Okay so as you should know My wedding is now I think 86 days away so I'm on major crunch mode to get these last pounds off of me. I got ready to buy the EA Sports Active for the wii before it came out, you know the whole preorder thing but decided to wait and look at some reviews for it first. I am a huge review reader before I buy anything. So after the reviews I decided to go ahead and spend the $60 on it. I carried my butt to Wally World and got it (2 days ago). I am not a morning person at all so something has really got to have me motivated to get out the bed. Well this has done just that. I got up yesterday morning to give it a whirl. I sweated my but off and had fun doing it. And this morning I was up way early and ready for my workout. I have the wii fit also and this totally blows the wii fit out of the water. Now that I've told you how totally hooked I am on it I will give you a little more specifics.
Unlike the wii fit, Active has workout programs that run from one exercise to the next without you having to go back out to the screen and choose what you want to do next. On wii fit I always seemed to do the fun things and that was it. With this setting up a routine I feel like I have to do it even tho you can skip an exercise if you don't want to do it. Active gives you encourage ment throughout your whole routine and doesn't make fun of your weight like the wii fit does either. When you are doing a routine as the screens change for the exercises there is 3 things that always stay on the screen and I think it's great. The amount of calories you have burned through the routine thus far (they base this off of your weight that you enter on your profile and then the intensity that you are working out), the amount of reps you are going to be doing and how many you have done, and the amount of time you have actually been working out. They don't count time for changing screens or for you watching the demo of an exercise just the actual time you have been working out. Right now I'm doing the 30 day challenge which has routines that target different areas on different days. Wednesday morning I started with the low intensity routine I didn't know what their "intensity" consisted of so I didn't want to totally kill myself. It was a workout I was sweating I'm not gonna lie. Wednesday I ran on the track and did some lunges and boxed and some arm exercises. Today I decided to change my intensity level to medium. I wasn't sore and it's not like I'm in horrible shape or anything. I was really sweating today, todays routine worked alot on cardio too which may have has something to do with the sweat factor. I ran the track and did other things on the track like high knees and kick-ups (my 4 year old was calling the hiccups ha ha) but thats where you pretty much kick back like you are kicking your own butt. I also did a little tennis. LOTS of lunges and some arm exercises.
I will keep you informed of any other features that I come about that I like or don't like tho I haven't found anything I don't like yet. I take that back. I don't like the resistance band that is included with the game. It doesn't really live up to its name. I mean I pick up a 40 pound child up all day and that little bit of resistance just wasn't making me feel like I was working anything. I just use the one that I already had at home and everything is just fine. That problem is any easy fix as you can pick up a resistance band pretty cheap ($12.99 @ Dick's).
This can also be good for the whole family. You can do two people at the same time if you want to buddy up with someone and work out you just have to buy another bundle with the legstrap and what not. But my son does it in the morning with me. He doesn't have a controler or anything he just does the same exercises and me. Oh yeah on Wednesday we did inline skating too he really liked that.
All and all I would recommend this to everyone. I love it love it love it.
